FOUNDER
This illustrious club has a very rich & history which is more then hundred years old. During the regime of Late. H. H. Madhav Rao Scindia, one of the greatest rulers of his time, this club was established by the then British regent on the 4th july 1898 with the name "ELGIN CLUB".

Late H. H. Madhav Rao Scindia was always open to any such idea which would add to the betterment of the State.

This club was opened for Sardar Jagirdar's & high ranked Officials of the State with the basic idea of exchanging and gathering information and affairs of the gwalior state.

Later Late H. H. Jiwaji Rao Scindia became the full fledged Ruler of Gwalior State. In the year 1936. He gave this club its present name "JIWAJI CLUB". He honoured the club by becoming its first president. Late H. H. Jiwaji Rao Scindia gave new height's to the club. He roped in people from all walks of life with the concepts of socialising exchanging views, cultural activities and sports to refresh them from hectic and tiresome affairs of the days. During his period the club be expanded and elaborated on its activities.

By virtue of his inclination and interest we have card rooms, Bridge rooms, Billiard & Snooker Room & Clay Tennis courts ( Earlier we had 4 grass courts also) Squash Court, Indoor Badminton Hall, T. T. room, Bar room, family recreation room, family restaurant and library.

In the year 1898 British Govt. appointed the regent to look after the affairs of the Gwalior state in the regime of late H. H. Madhav Rao Scindia.

British Regent then conceived the idea to establish a club to gather all the information and affairs of the state. The British Regent then formed the club and named it as Elgin Club. This was when H. H. Srimant Jiwaji Rao Scindia became full fledged ruler of the Gwalior state in the year 1936.

He looked after the affairs of the Elgin club and gave it its present name of Jiwaji Club.

His highness Srimant Jiwaji Rao Scindia's concept of club was to rope in senior officials, Businessman and high ranking people. He aimed at a common gathering to exchange views with sports facilities to refresh them from weary & tiresome affairs of the day.
